From the book, "Puposeful Play" by Kristine Mraz..."We believe there is play in work and work in play," they write. "It helps to have practical ways to carry that mindset into all aspects of the curriculum." In Purposeful Play , they share ways to: 1)optimize and balance different types of play to deepen regular classroom learning 2)teach into play to foster socialemotional skills and a growth mindset 3)bring the impact of play into all your lessons across the day. My students will use the kitchen supplies, blocks, cars, dolls to recreate what they observe their parents and friends doing in real life. They will practice sharing, taking turns, solving problems in a positive way, and being part of a community. My hope is that my students graduate kindergarten with the social and emotional skills that will set them up to be successful for the rest of their school days and as a caring citizen of the world!
