I have students in my class that primarily have exceptionalities of Autism, Specific Learning Disability, and Mild Intellectual Disability. They receive assistance primarily in reading and math. I provide small group and one on one instruction to meet the needs outlined on the individual educational plans. I am at a title 1 school where the majority of the students are on free and reduced breakfast and lunch. Many of our students are second language learners and economically disadvantaged. They have difficulty accessing technology outside of the school setting. Our goal is to infuse as much technology as we can during the instructional day. The second language learners and special education students require a lot of hands on and interactive resources to insure learning. The Microsoft surface would allow us to make this possible.
