My 5th grade students are curious and energetic. They come to school everyday with questions and ideas but often object when I use terms like "lessons", "learning", or "assignments". It is my job to make learning fun, to spark their curiosity, and present information that is engaging and informative. To teach respect, responsibility, kindness, and being proactive in my classroom I have created a community. Our community is student run and centered around their ideas, everyone plays a part and has a voice. Every day in my class students work on collaborative projects, use technology, and practice presenting their ideas to their peers. Whenever possible I incorporate creative, hands-on activities in my lesson plans because I feel that most students learn best through experiences and experiences become memories.
