Think back to your middle school years. It was great for some and it was horrible for others. Nonetheless, it was an experience that you will never forget. Two things that I can remember from my time in middle school is my inability to keep my notebook organized and working hard to sharpen my critical thinking skills. Surprisingly, the issues that I had during middle school are the same issues that my students face each day. Because of this, I introduced them to the system of the interactive notebook. I was shocked when they showed interest in learning how to not only sharpen their critical thinking skills but become organized for success. The problem is that many cannot afford the materials that they need to even start the system. They immediately felt defeated and started to lose hope of ever implementing this into our class procedures. I refuse to give up on them and I am willing to do whatever it takes to give them a chance at interactive notebooks. If we can get assistance with getting started, we are willing to find a way to maintain our organization/critical thinking system. My students try really hard to be successful and need all the love and support they can get. I am known to go above and beyond for them, but I cannot support this system alone, financially. I believe in the "it takes a village" philosophy and is asking the village to help my students on their journey to success.
