Every year, our students struggle through state-wide literacy and math tests, so we are providing an enrichment course for students on Saturdays where they can receive additional instruction in literacy and math! To motivate students to voluntarily participate in this program, and to provide one additional opportunity for them to improve their reading fluency, we want to provide these books for students to read at the conclusion of our Saturday school program each week. We need more of The Hunger Games than We do of Catching Fire and Mockingjay because we know most students will not make it through the first book during the 9 weeks of the course. These books will provide our students with the positive incentive they need to get real learning done during our Saturday school classes.
