Osmo systems allow students and teachers to turn their district provided or personal technology devices into interactive document cameras. During distance learning, this resource will allow Special Education teachers and instructional assistants to demonstrate proper number and letter formation, using manipulatives to solve math problems, and so much more! The great thing about these devices is that they will not only benefit my students during distance learning; they can be used as individual learning centers when we return to in-person instruction. The Osmo interactive STEAM and literacy activities provide students with immediate feedback and reinforcements when used as an interactive educational tool. My district has provided two iPads for instructional assistants to use for planning and instructional purposes, so this request includes two Osmo bases and reflectors for those devices. I have access to a laptop to use for planning and instruction, so I will need an Osmo compatible device, like the Kindle Fire Tablet. Using the Kindle Fire Tablet is preferable because it allows me to sync the device to my district provided laptop. In addition to the Osmo devices and tablet, I would like to purchase a set of each of the Osmo letters, numbers, and tanagrams. These materials will help the Special Education team to provide a wide range of content instruction and support. The last part of this project is a request for a Teachers Pay Teachers gift card. This will allow me and my instructional assistants to begin using the Osmo devices right away with a variety of instructional content. Although I enjoy designing engaging activities and lessons, doing so while learning a new technological platform can be intimidating. Fortunately, TPT is full of great standards-aligned ready-to-use activities specifically designed for use with an Osmo.
