A majority of the items in my project are things that make sense for a reading teacher to want- Reading and Vocabulary Materials! Currently we are using the Read 180 program in my school, which is excellent, but it requires technology resources that we don't typically have access to. The major component of my project is new high-quality headphones, which would give my students the resources to be able to use the updated version of the Read 180 program, Read 180 Universal. This version incorporates technology in a way that teaches students that computers and tablets aren't just for games and social media. These resources will make it easier to record themselves reading out loud, which is one of the best ways to develop fluency. The last components of my project are subscriptions to Choices magazine (by Scholastic) which is a social-emotional learning based magazine that comes once a month for 10 months. Social-Emotional skills are an area where my students really struggle, which is why many of them attend this alternative program. I've also asked for the Wordly Wise book set, to help students engage better with vocabulary words and improve their reading comprehension. I know that I'm asking for a lot, but with your donations, students who really deserve the opportunity to learn and succeed will have an even better chance. Thank you for your consideration!!
