Skype provides educational opportunities that enhance student learning and motivation. The monitor, webcam, and microphone will allow my students to understand the relevance of the math that they are learning by communicating, via Skype, with mathematicians and professionals that are using the math every day. Minorities in math? Women in math fields? Seeing is believing! Imagine students seeing and speaking to professionals who look like them. I want my students to connect the concepts and skills that they are learning to real world career applications. I want to use this project to inspire more females and minorities to consider careers in mathematics. Expanding students' thinking about the use of tech beyond calls to friends and video games.
