In order to improve my ELL students' language skills, they need daily opportunities to practice writing and speaking English. Headphones will allow students to record their speaking practice so I can give targeted feedback to an entire class. Individual whiteboards will allow students to easily try out new language forms and make revisions as needed in a non-permanent form. Making mistakes is stressful for students, but also a necessary part of the learning process. Practicing on whiteboards feels less threatening since it's so easy to erase and try again. Paper lets me make copies for my 100 students when they need to demonstrate their progress in a more formal format. Learning a new language is difficult and takes repeated practice. These resources will give my students more opportunities for engaging activities that will motivate them through the difficult process of language acquisition.
