If this project is funded my students will learn to see words on a page can come alive in a fluid yet expressive way. Listening centers not only provide students with a break from reading, but model fluency as well. Students are able to listen to how words have expressions and can change the tone of the story completely. Audio books also teach students how to listen. A skill that must be mastered in the very early stages of reading. The listening center will provide a space for 5-6 children at a time to hear their favorite books read to them time and time again. This is a wonderful space for student to become creative and imagine their favorite characters come to life.
