Through our own schooling we learn the importance of belonging and being a welcome part of a community. For students who struggle with communication and understanding social cues, like my students with autism, this can present a challenge. For this reason in my classroom we support the development of the whole child from academics to diverse social and life skills that will help them be fully functional members of society. We take joy in growing together through work, friendship, compassion, and play. I take the responsibility of being a special ed teacher to heart. Each moment of every school day is an opportunity to learn a new skill. It is my job to discover how my students learn and teach them the skills their typically developing peers learn without instruction. Take this unique journey of learning and growing with us.
