We all get bored doing the same thing over and over again with the same materials. This is still true even if we didn't learn how to "do" what we were supposed to be doing. In special education PreK we learn by playing, doing, and repeating the process again, but most importantly by doing and playing in different modalities, then generalizing in different environments with different objects to show what we learned. Having several different formats and modalities to teach about animals, by touching, feeling, hearing, and putting together will give my students many opportunities to play, do, and learn animal concepts. This will keep the learning engaging and fun while inducing generalization of concepts.
