Our fourth grade classroom is comprised of students who come from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds. This year, sixty-four percent of students in my classroom are English Language Learners. My students are curious, driven, and compassionate learners who are positive role models in our classroom, school, and local community. Although many of my students are familiar with personal struggle, they are aware that kindness and gratitude is present in our daily lives. We begin each school day by writing in our gratitude journals or watching short videos of the kindness others spread. "Practicing Positivity" for ten minutes each day helps these students recognize that we are always in the presence of people who care.
