My students are strong, inquisitive and unique. With Spanish being a predominate language in their homes and belonging to high-poverty communities, my students come to school with a historical lack of access and opportunity when it comes to education. As a licensed school counselor, I teach push-in services on an array of socio-emotional topics, such as: diversity, bullying prevention, anger management, and resiliency. In addition, I welcome children into my space for counseling or even for a sensory break when children are feeling overwhelmed. Along with my team, I help to soothe the trauma that often underlies the negative behaviors we see in students and help to create safe spaces where students can find escape from the stressors of everyday life.
