Responsive Classroom is an evidence-based approach to teaching that’s deeply rooted in social-emotional learning (SEL) and focused on engaging academics, positive community, effective management, and developmental awareness. I have completed the Elementary Core Course last summer, and am eager to learn more ways that I can meet my young learners' social and emotional needs. Since my previous training in Social Emotional practices of Responsive Classroom, I have seen amazing progress in my students' communication, confidence, self control and academic achievement. The Elementary Advanced Course is designed to increase my knowledge and expand these teaching strategies and practices to strengthen the Responsive Classroom approach I'm already using in a four-day workshop. Especially in the lens of the struggles that students are facing in our current climate, I want to learn anyway that I can make all students feel included, important and empowered. No learning can occur until I have achieved this.
