My name is Jennifer Lambert, and I am a second grade teacher in Martinsburg, West Virginia. The schools in our small city face a lot of challenges. Our city has a 28.8% poverty rate, while the national average is 14%. Despite the obstacles in their way, my students come in happy and ready to learn each day. I believe it is my job as an educator make sure that every child feels supported, loved, and welcome in my classroom. I hope to support their diverse needs and learning styles, as well as promote an accepting and tolerant climate. In the front of my room are the words, "YOU MATTER." This is the most important lesson I have to teach my students on a daily basis.
