Flexible seating is such a game-changer in the classroom. Math is often a frustration point of my kiddos day because each year it gets more challenging. By supplying them with flexible seating options, it gives them the freedom to chose a spot that makes them feel more comfortable in their application of content; it also allows me a way to 'visit' them in a place of their choosing to help them with areas of need. Working in small groups can be a challenge when everyone else is seated at desks because there isn't always the opportunity for brief collaboration with peers. Having a choice of a work space is a motivator in itself. When kids know math is coming, I want them to have peace of mind that they have the freedom to work where they'd like.
