My students are amazing little beings. They are full of wonder and imagination, which I love to foster. One way I foster their imagination is through reading many different types of literature. Reading is an adventure into a lot of different things. We explore different types of adventure in both fiction and non fiction writing. We center literacy around the majority of the activities that we do throughout our day. We start with mastering our letter names and the sounds they make. Then we build those sounds into words. Once we have a base knowledge of reading and writing simple words, we connect to handwriting where we begin to create our own stories. Early literacy is so important to establish. It instills confidence, independence, and exploration into these young readers. Amazing resources brought into my classroom help for me to bring the joy into learning to read!
