My students are eligible for Special Education services with mild cognitive impairments or severe learning disabilities, often with ADHD. These students attend a regular elementary school and range from grades kindergarten through fifth, but spend most of their day with me. I furnish a dependable, family-like structure for their day and their instruction. We not only teach math, reading, and writing, but also social, independent living and coping skills that they can use in their other classes and on the playground in order to be more successful. They struggle, even in my room, with focus and appropriate interactions.
