With the constant technological advances and globalization of our world, professions are required to keep up with these modern changes. Teachers are no different; yet funding isn't always available. To compete in the global community, students must be able to think critically and solve real-life problems in areas such as science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. These are areas where students often struggle and where funding is often lacking. With the use of a 3D printer, my students will be able to meet these requirements and apply these skills to other subject areas as well. By donating to our project, you will help students bring their imagination to life! Literally! Students will be encouraged to use their imagination and innovative ideas to create 3D models and then sell these models/creations as a school fundraiser. Students will learn a multitude of real-life skills with the use of a 3D printer. They will be able to explore the world of engineering, learn basic computer programming skills, and learn how to operate the 3D printer itself. Students will also learn valuable problem-solving skills when projects don't go as planned, learning the value of persistence. In addition, students will learn basic financing skills in order to sell their creations to raise money for our school. With the implementation of this extra-curricula program, students will be excited about learning again. If given this opportunity, I know I can encourage students to be creative thinkers and innovators in our ever-changing, modern world.
