I am a kindergarten teacher and have done my best to purchase classroom books and search for them through donations. Classroom libraries can make a big difference in the reading lives of students in the classroom—no matter their age or reading ability. I am requesting a variety of genres, levels and authors to provide a rich learning environment. Studies show that students who are in rooms with adequate libraries read up to 50% more than students without classroom libraries. All because of access to books – no other place provides an easier access to books than a classroom library. Having a wide selection of books, different levels, different genres will help promote the best possible learning outcomes for my students!
