My students are wonderful, bright, energetic children. Our school considers itself to be a community school. This means that we actively engage the community to bring in our areas rich and diverse resources to allow our children and surrounding community to learn together. One of the challenges that I face everyday while engaging with the community and my students is the current economic hardships brought on by The Recession. Many people in the area no longer have the means to be able to acquire and utilize basic classroom supplies and learning aides in their homes. My goal is to be able to have enough supplies so if students' parents are unable to provide them with some, I will have some and they won't feel left out. I would also like to be able to provide wonderful learning aides that be used over and over in the classroom and at home. Things like games that are more engaging than worksheets. Thank you!
