The addition of essential picture books, chart paper, and an iPad in our classroom will allow my students to access apps, programs, and texts that enable higher level learning. My students will be able to use the iPad, literature, and chart paper in reading stations designed to improve fluency, verbal comprehension, decoding, and other vital reading skills. Having consistent access to an iPad in our classroom would allow them the experience of using technology productively, which will only help them be successful learners as they get older! We use picture books on a daily basis to emphasize new skills in each new unit. The books I have selected in this project are books that are directly related to concepts I teach all year long. Some of these include cause and effect, plot, theme, figurative language, and context clues. The chart paper and markers are a great way for me to create anchor charts for each new skill taught. Weekly I create anchor charts based on the concept that I am teaching. Many of my students are visual learners and need that reminder posted around the classroom to boost their memory of key concepts.
