I encourage students to try looking at things from a different perspective. I ask them to use their imagination. For a lot of students this can be a difficult task. Many students will never get to see anything beyond this state or even beyond their own community. They deal with many hardships and some focus on just getting through the day. I want to help students get past that mind set. I want them to know that they can do anything and can get out of their community. They can accomplish higher goals and see bigger places. Having a working and functioning lab, however small it maybe, can be a window to these higher goals. It can be the beginning of a new perspective; not just a new perspective in art, but new one in life too.
