Middle school students want to feel in control in most aspects of their lives. Using alternative seating puts the learning environment in the hands of the student. By being able to select where they will be most comfortable, they have taken control of their own learning, which is just as valuable a lesson as the math I teach! Many studies and experiments have proven that alternative seating works wonders with classroom behavior and attitude. Every single student is different and not everyone will work best at a confined desk or a table that has to be shared with others. By allowing the student to make his or her own choice of where he will be most productive, classroom morale will go up, as well as knowledge on assessments, as they will be better able to focus! All students deserve a relaxing, comfy environment in which to work and learn. Help me give that to my kids.
