Research shows that classroom libraries help students attain reading achievement. My students struggle with social skills development and many are learning to read. By building my classroom library, I can instill a love of reading in my students while they develop social skills. My students will learn about friendship, emotions, problem-solving and build conversation skills by reading and discussing these special books. Effective teachers of reading know that comprehension is enhanced by reflection and social interaction. Therefore, students need multiple opportunities to respond to their reading and interact with their peers through a variety of activities. By building a love of reading students will improve their social development and make gains in their classrooms.

About my class
