The students I have this year would have benefited from a student centered environment. They are very kinesthetic and needy. When I say needy it's not necessarily a bad thing. The group this year responds highly to positive reinforcement and special attention. If they (or any students) could see how much time and money a teacher, community, or donor put into them, they would be beside themselves. H Middle School has a wonderful team; especially the 6th grade. We take pride in our rooms and the creativity shown within them. If my class could be the first to "ditch the desks" and foster an unconventional class environment and reap several benefits I would be willing to bet that the rest of the teachers would consider doing the same. This could spark a chain reaction of teachers changing the way the students value education.
