This project was created to motivate my students to read at school and at home. Research has shown that reinforcing skills at home helps students to maintain and enhance the skills they have learned at school. The leveled library mobile will help organize books into accessible genres and levels for the students to grab and go. The reading bags will provide a safe transport for books that we send home for them to practice. The treasure chest is a reward to motivate them to read at home and to develop the love of reading independently. The first grade team has developed an emoji theme incentive program to create excitement for learning. Last year we had an emoji reading event and our students were very excited about this. We would like to continue this theme to promote reading at school and at home. I am so excited to watch my students grow this year as learners and develop a love for reading.
