My students are more engaged in activities where they are active participants. The four Bee-Bot Robots will be used in small groups to give students opportunities to handle and program the robots in the areas of language arts, math, and science to support our kindergarten curriculum. The Bee-Bot Robots will create complex thinking, give my students access to technology, and increase understanding of skills in literacy, math, and science. Specifically, students will learn to use words related to location, direction, and distance, including vocabulary words such as, here/there, over/under, left/right, above/below, forward/backward, and between. Students will use technology (Bee-Bot Robots) to solve age-appropriate problems and communicate thoughts and ideas in a step-by-step manner. Cooperative learning will also be key as students work together to accomplish a simple task. Students will program the Bee-Bot​ Robots using simple navigational terms on a gridded map. Lastly, my students will write code using five commands: forward, left, right, clear, and go.
