The young men of Best Academy Middle School are eager to learn. They are smart, adventurous, courageous, and excited about learning new skills. Our school consists of over 400 African American males in grades 6th through 12th. Over 95% of them receive free or reduced lunch. Many of them come from single parent homes and many are being raised by their grandparents. Many struggle with reading and math and need assistance in catching up with their peers across the nation. In spite of their circumstances, they are eager to learn and to grow. They have a desire to improve themselves and meet the challenges of their academics while exploring sports and the arts. They take a lot of pride in what they do and with continuous support, they will be able to reach their dreams and aspirations. Students in the after school program will also benefit from these materials for two days a week, year long.
