I am a first grade teacher at a public elementary school in California. Many students spend more time with me in my classroom than in their homes during the week so I try to make my classroom a safe place for them to experiment, explore, learn, make mistakes, and try new things. This is my 8th year teaching and my students have always been wonderful. They come from a variety of ethnic backgrounds as well as from a wide range of socioeconomic situations. My class is a place for students to experience things they may not be able to at home. I like to do project based learning and to encourage students to explore their own personal interests. I strive to make learning interesting, fun, and engaging. It is harder to do every year as class sizes increase, budgets decrease, and more weight is given to standardized tests. Thanks to DonorsChoose and people like you, I can still make that happen! Thank you!
