I teach a self-contained Special Education classroom. My current class has 4 fulltime students and 4 part-time students. Having a class pet is a great way to show students real-life examples and give them real-life experiences. This project will also give Steven( the Guinea Pig) more room to play and giving him a better quilty of life in our classroom. Teaching the students how to care for a pet is a key life skill that not all students have at home. This will not only help my current class but classes years to come. Guinea Pigs live 5 to 7 years. Steven is about 6 months old now. Next school year I will be teaching a kindergarten class for children with Autism.
