Our school is a large school (1,000 kids, pre-k - 5th grade.) there are nine teachers on our grade level. We have a fabulous class this year. My group is full of lots of inquisitive thinkers who want to know why and how. These kids try to think outside of the box and come up with and share as many strategies for a problem as we can. Our class is so interested in learning the background knowledge of why something is happening and what will that mean to us. I had one girl ask me recently, "How can we use this math problem as a real life example?" and she wasn't being sarcastic! She really wanted to know how to relate the multiplication to real life. How awesome is that?
