The majority of our high school is comprised of students living below the poverty line, but you would never know this based on their work. Our department puts on multiple productions a year. We attend the Walter Trumbauer Festival in the fall and have won awards at the State Competition. We take pride in doing spectacular work on small budgets. The majority of our funds come from ticket sales and small fundraisers. Yet, like many others like us, it is not enough. The students are avid play readers and love taking part in the entire process of performance. My classroom is where these students come to feel safe, be themselves, and try new things. They take pride in my room and what it represents.
