Have you ever had a day when you felt discouraged or challenged about something you were going to have to do because you knew you were not good at it? In your eyes you felt like everyone else thought the same thing about you and all you really wanted was someone to believe in you? Welcome to my classroom. My students come from all different levels of learning and walks of life and many times they come discouraged and scared because they don't believe in themselves. They are longing for one person to believe in them. THAT ONE PERSON IS ME and you should see their hearts fill up when I give them a little encouraging word and tell them I BELIEVE IN THEM! This is what these brag tags do. I watch and catch them doing something good and it doesn't always pertain to academics. I hand them a brag tag and tell them they earned it! Those little faces light up and they are so proud! They long to earn more brag tags and work so hard because they realize they don't have to be perfect, they just have to give effort and consistency. With brag tags I focus on the positive behaviors happening in the classroom instead of the negative behaviors. It's so heartwarming watch joy fill their hearts and to see the smiles on their faces knowing I BELIEVE IN THEM!
