My students all come from low socio-economic backgrounds. The majority show up on the first day of school with NO school supplies. They spend the whole year trying to find a pencil to work on assignments. They show up with no backpack, no binders to help organize their materials. This small gesture of being able to start the year with having the supplies they need can be such a boost to their confidence in how they feel about themselves. I want to provide them with binders and sheet protectors to use inside the binders to help them stay organized - a skill they need for life.
