My students are as energetic as they are bright. However, they are challenged when it comes to focus and self-discipline. They require external stimuli such as vibration from the Senseez Seat Cushions to encourage calm bodies. Others need to be able to use their energy without disturbing those around them. Providing them the option of using the ball seats and/or the Wobble Stools will enable these students to give their bodies the movement they need and the ability to focus on classroom tasks. The Boundary Chairs will help my students who have difficulties remaining in their own space during whole group lessons and independent work time. My students are second language learners who are very bright and creative. My desire is to provide for them an environment in which they can direct these talents and further their acquisition of the English language while furthering their instruction in their native language of Spanish. Bilingual students do double duty in school to help close the language gap with their monolingual peers. Therefore, it is imperative that I take every step possible to make learning essential in our classroom. With the use of flexible, sensory seating I know my students will be up to the task of truly becoming bilingual individuals.
