Being a 1st grade teacher is my dream job and I absolutely love what I do. My students inspire me each and every day to continue to learn right along with them to ensure they are getting the best possible education. Every year it amazes me how much 6 and 7 year olds can accomplish and I'm starting this project to reward them for that hard work. Growing up I remember how much recess helped me to do well in school and in a full school day my students only have 1 recess! That means if we have indoor recess they really don't get a break at all. With that being said I have to get creative in how I incorporate movement in my classroom. We do brain breaks and I have them move around as often as possible but being at such a young age they need more. I can't stress enough how passionate I am about helping these eager young children to be even more successful in school. With your donation I plan to purchase a variety of flexible seating options to allow my students to be continually moving throughout the day, while still being able to focus on their work. I plan to buy materials such as wobble chairs, rocker chairs, bungee chairs, and more to allow my students to access as much movement in their day as they need to be focused and successful. This will be helpful for all my students but especially for students with ADHD, ADD, and Autism who need a little extra movement and flexibility.
