One of the many things I have realized throughout my time in college was that many students hate math and sometimes this stems from their parents' hatred for math or the fact that they cannot receive help at home on their math homework because parents are unaware of this "new math." After thinking on how to make students love math and create easy access help for my students' parents, I have decided to implement a way to teach my parents as well as my students. Using this document camera, I will be able to create mini lessons to teach parents what we are learning in school. By doing this, parents can better understand why we may be using this "new math" and how to better help their student succeed. The scanner tool for this document camera will be used to keep parents updated on the work that is going home with their student. There will be no more days of "I forgot my homework at school" or "I don't remember what problems I was supposed to do." These tools will be implemented using a class Facebook page that parents can join. Using these devices parents will have an opportunity to see what their students are learning in class and even participate in live videos to have direct feedback from the teacher. I believe that including parents in a child's education is key to success. To meet these parents where they are, we must use modern technology and must create easy access to have active communication.
