Daily independent reading is crucial to improving reading comprehension. Students are often reluctant to do independent reading unless they are reading something of interest to them. My classroom library is extremely limited at the moment as most of the novels I possess are not on the 5th grade reading level or interest level of my students. These materials will help me to build a classroom library that fits the interest and grade level of my students. This library will hopefully help me to instill a lifelong love for reading in my 5th grade students.
