Exploration is a key to successful learning. Students use mirrors to explore their bodies in order to learn about health, wellness, and self-care. They are better able to notice individual differences that make them unique to our classroom. Another way in which we use mirrors is to explore our facial expressions to learn what different emotions look like and how we can draw them. Phonetics is one of the hardest things to teach students with disabilities, with a mirror, they can notice things like breathing patterns, lip and tongue movement, and teeth placement when making sounds. Magnifying glasses allow us to take a closer look at our features and our surroundings. students with disabilities often times need to literally examine things from their environment to text in order to better understand. Providing my students with these 2 items would be in valuable to their instruction and productivity in the classroom and in their community.
