I would like to provide Kindles to put more books in my students hands. We do a 40 Book Challenge in order to encourage aiming high for reading goals. We have a VERY small school library and limited space and funds for our classroom library. These Kindles will allow my students to use their free county library card to connect with our state library system's free e-book program called Missouri-Libraries-To-Go. MLTG is as good as going to Barnes and Noble. Kids can find just about everything they could dream of to read!!! They check out books using the same method they would as if they physically go to the library. I have used the program myself and with my own children and believe this will greatly enrich my students reading lives. Getting Kindles is a cost-effective way to solve a funding issue we have with getting books into our school. Kids also LOVE technology! Being able to read on an e-device may motivate some more reluctant readers to discover the joys of reading for the fun of it! We would grateful for and appreciate the opportunity to expand the world of books for these small town students!
