Welcome to 3rd Grade at PS 401 (Christopher Avenue Community School) located in Brownsville, Brooklyn. PS 401 is a high need school, Title 1 school which means majority of the student population are living in shelters, foster care and receive public assistance. Many students move throughout the school year and new students are added at any time. These circumstances are hard on the children as well as the dedicated teachers because children need stability. Despite the challenges my students face, I believe it;s my job to give them my best! All students have the ability to be successful with support and preparation which is my goal. I want to help my students integrate their experiences with their learning to make their education more meaningful. My classroom consists of 25+ eight/nine year olds. I believe the classroom should be a safe space for students to learn and be themselves.
