This year, I'm teaching 6th and 7th-grade students in a low-income school in Florida. Many of these students come from homes with minimal access to technology. I would love to teach my students new and different ways to use technology in science. My students are very curious; they ask many questions. They ask why, how, and how do you know about so many things. This curiosity is amazing and cultivated by allowing them to ask those questions and to find their own answers. They need the tablets and headphones to research in an environment where I can help them weigh and access sources. They are a generation where technology is one of the main components in their lives wherever they go.
