Preschool students are so eager to learn. Learning the letter sound and word recognition skills are such an important foundation for students to have upon entering kindergarten. With a listening center, stocked with read-along books, headphones, and cushy seats my students can gain and practice these valuable skills. Students will be able to sit at the listening center and read their favorite book while gaining an understanding of the concepts of print. Students who are not exposed to read-alouds at home will get the chance to have a book read to them whenever they want at school. English Language Learners can hear books in their home language and in English. Students who may be leery to read with another student can always have the chance to read with a cd. This listening center will open up my students' imaginations and expose them to a world that they never thought was possible.
