iPads and Apple Pencils are the perfect pairing, particularly in our classroom. These tools are used daily in our classroom for displaying materials that I've created as well as ones that the students have created as well. By helping to supply our classroom with an iPad and Apple Pencil, you are giving me the ability to move around our classroom while teaching, instead of being locked to the front of the classroom with our document camera for whole class learning opportunities. Having the iPad allows me to get real time data on my students and gives me the chance to check in with each student during our instruction and modeling time to help support them right as we are learning a skill. This tool gives students the chance to share strategies and thoughts with their classmates! Currently, I am using an old personal iPad for this purpose so that I am not taking away from any school supplied devices that should be in the hands of the kids. It would be a dream to have a newer model iPad since my current device no longer is supported by iOS updates and I would love for it retire as my go-to device and be our "library checkout" iPad only!
