Most students in South Florida come from a different language background. About 80% of the students in my class come from a Spanish speaking home environment. These students have a hard time comprehending concepts in a classroom environment, especially during Science. Hands-on instruction for ELL students is proven to help with vocabulary building in the area of Science. These iPads will be used to complete Gizmo labs, Duolingo, Grammar Up, Fun English, and many more to be able to build vocabulary for these students during small group instruction. Through vocabulary knowledge, students will be able to better understand the concepts at hand in any subject area. Due to the limited space and time to complete in-class labs, I have chosen these iPads to take the place of Science Labs, along with vocabulary practice, to support Science instruction. The main iPad will be used to set-up instruction through these applications and create further activities for the students in the class.
