Being an out-of-the-box thinking teacher who understands that all students learn differently, I have designed my class curriculum so that it sets up each student for success, not only in the classroom but beyond. My students have come to expect this non-traditional teacher to implement cutting-edge technology and strategies within our classroom. This year, I would like to take this concept a step further by transitioning to a flexible seating classroom, utilizing diverse seating such as big bean bag chairs, armchair pillows, and padded stools. I have witnessed firsthand how an innovative, engaging classroom environment leads to meaningful, lasting learning. My students actively use the oversized chair and futon that I currently have in my classroom, which has inspired me to transition the class as a whole so I can offer all students the opportunity to learn in an environment they feel most comfortable. By incorporating the furniture listed in this project, I will be able to set up another area in classroom for my students to utilize when collaborating on group projects, participating in small group discussions, or reading with partners. By giving my students more choice in the classroom, they have a greater opportunity to become more committed to their personal education, enhancing concentration, creativity, and collaboration.
