I have taught at the same school for 30 years. As a Title 1 school, I feel compelled to do what I can to help these students. During this time I have seen the demographics, needs, and challenges of my students CHANGE. It has become more demanding to provide my students with basic materials in order to learn and be on an equal footing with peers in non-Title 1 schools. Due to the low income level of the families, my students do not always have the support at home to assist them with their reading. This is partly because the adults in their lives are busy working several jobs, to provide the basics of food on the table and a roof over their heads. They are often working when the children are home and need the support.

About my class
