These books will be composed in an Awareness/Acceptance Library. Our school values the importance of providing all students with knowledge to allow them become more compassionate, kind, and accepting of each individual regardless of their abilities or differences. Teachers will use these books to guide all students in discussions about patience, acceptance, tolerance and a variety of special needs. Students will learn about empathy and kindness as they listen to stories regarding various differences and exceptionalities. The books will help to create powerful discussions between teachers and students about beauty of our differences. These books will also help students with exceptionalities, as they are able to hear stories similar to their own. It will allow students to understand their unique qualities and their value within.
